George Hotel is located in the town of Blat, which is part
of the antique city of Byblos (Jbeil). The hotel is just 5
minutes away from the sea and the historical sites of Jbeil,
and only 4 minutes away from the Lebanese American University.

such, our strategic location enables us to welcome visitors
wishing to visit Byblos as well as L.A.U. students who originally
live far from university.
The hotel is also 30 minutes away from the beautiful Laklouk
mountains, a renowned ski resort in Lebanon.

Byblos
is one of the most ancient cities in the world dated 4000 B.C.
At first the city was named GOUBLA or GUEBAL, in the XIII century,
Greeks named it Byblos as it was the city exporting the letter
to the world. |

|
|
Crusades
castle was build in Byblos in the XII century, the same location
was occupied before by the fatimist fortress. It was built with
huge rocks blocks never used elsewhere in the Middle-East.
Byblos 6 columns dated since 300 A.C., bording the way of the
portal guiding to the temple of Baalat Gebal.
The castle measuring around 44 meters high, is located behing
the pheniciens fortifications. |
The
famous royal tombs, of a great historical and archeological
value, consists of nine large funeral chambers digged in the
deep between the IIIrd and the IIrd B.C.
The most famous tomb, was the funeral tomb of King Ahiram (
XIII century B.C.).
We can see one of the most ancient phoenicien writing exposed
today in the National Museum of Beirut. |

It
is a prosperous place with glass-fronted office buildings and
crowded streets. But within the old town, medieval Arab and
Crusader remains are continuous reminders of the past. For a
real taste of Byblos, stroll through the streets and byways.
This part of town is a collection of old walls overlapping properties
and intriguing half-ruins. |

Don't
hesitate to explore - should you happen to intrude on someone's
property, the hospitable townspeople will be pleased to show
you around. Nearby are the excavated remains of the ancient
city, the Crusader castle and church and the old market area.
The area of excavations is surrounded by a wall with the entrance
to the Crusader castle.

From the airport take the Rawche highway linking to Dbayeh
and Jounieh Highway. Upon reaching the Byblos area take the
first exit to your right, 2 minutes and you are at the King
George Hotel.
